Medicare Part D Late Enrollment Penalty Calculator

If you delayed enrolling in Medicare prescription drug coverage, you may owe a monthly penalty. Use this calculator to estimate what your penalty might be.

The Part D penalty applies if you went 63 days or more without Medicare Part D or other creditable prescription drug coverage after becoming eligible for Medicare. The penalty is 1% of the national base beneficiary premium for every full month you went without coverage โ€” and it's added to your Part D premium for as long as you have Part D.

    Your Details

IMPORTANT: This calculator provides an ESTIMATE only and is intended for educational purposes. The actual penalty amount assessed by Medicare may differ from this estimate due to factors including but not limited to: the exact enrollment dates Medicare has on file, adjustments to the national base beneficiary premium, rounding rules applied by CMS, and individual circumstances. The Fuller Agency is not responsible for any decisions made based on this estimate. Your official Part D late enrollment penalty will be determined by Medicare and communicated to you after you enroll in a Part D plan.
